Michelin Launches XZY3 Pre-Mold Retreat Belt

This spring Michelin hits the markets with quite an innovative product, the XZY3 Pre-Mold Retreat belt for truck tires. It suits for all-position tire and can be a great bargain for multifunctional car parks.

The XZY3 Pre-Mold Retreat belt features increased life span and steel-like durability. It reliably operates on various roads including mud, gravel and sand thanks to its excellent resistance to cuts and chippings, which as well prolongs tire casing life span.

The pre-mold retreat belt features extra-deep aggressive tread picture with four ribs to enhance traction on unstable surfaces while dedicated stone ejectors in central grooves prevents from carcass damage.

Ted Becker, Marketing Vice-President of Michelin Americas Truck Tires, says that not any retreaded tire can manage changing road surfaces, but this one is really able to solve this problem.

Michelin XZY3 Pre-Mold Retreat belt is compounded from durable rubber. It comes in eight sizes, namely 210, 220, 230, 240, 250, 270, 280 and 290/345. The latter features the peculiar tread pattern to ensure additional shoulder grip for better traction on irregular soil roads and off the road.

The New Michelin Energy E-V Equips the new Renault Zoe

The new Zoe passenger vehicle from Renault comes with the Michelin Energy E-V tire that was worked out in frames of a four-year collaboration of an automotive manufacturer and tire-maker. The tire is designed specially for electric vehicles and benefits from a long-term research and features a number of innovative technologies to deliver exceptionally efficient performance.

All Renault ZOE model with 15- and 16-inch wheel disks will be equipped with Michelin Energy E-V tire that fits into Renault Range OptimiZEr strategy that is aimed at lower energy consumption. The tire, for instance, can help you save up to 6 per cent fuel on an asphalted highway (depending on your driving style.)

The main task Michelin dealt with while developing this tire was to reduce its rolling resistance and hence reduce the vehicle’s energy consumption. At the same time, the Energy E-V remains safe and reliable and performs well on wet surfaces while delivering a long life span.

Michelin used its twenty-year experience in fuel-saving technologies for its new Energy E-V tire. The result is clean and eco-friendly operation of electric vehicles, which is the exact thing Renault Zoe vehicles offer.

Tires play a key role in your vehicle’s fuel consumption for it takes 30 per cent of energy consumed by the engine. It deforms and gets hot, which leads to energy loss, so if you reduce heat buildup energy consumption will lower as well.

Michelin Launches the X-Ice Xi3 Passenger Winter Tire

Michelin has recently unveiled their new tire for wintertime roads, the X-Ice Xi3. On a track in Mecaglisse in Quebec it has demonstrated its excellent performance that was significantly enhanced as compared to its predecessor.

The new model is created with the help of four key technologies, namely, the Cross Z siping for better handling, the Block Edge biting edges for snow and ice traction, Micro-Pump grooves to absorb moisture in the footprint area and FleX-Ice rubber compound to reduce braking distance, which altogether makes the real revolution in winter tire segment.

There’re also drop-shaped vertical sipes that enhance acceleration and braking performance while the MaxTouch Construction optimizes contact patch shape, which evenly distributes load over it during speeding up and cornering. The latter results in longer mileage.

The tire compound is molded into directional tread picture that includes curved lateral grooves for qick and efficient water and slush drainage from under the footprint. There’re also Z-shaped blocks in the outer tread area that improve longitudinal and lateral traction. Shoulder block design, in turn, increases traction and handling in deep snow.

Michelin grant the X-Ice Xi3 60,000-mile warranty on treadwear. The tire is also branded with the Green X marking on its sidewalls, which means its fuel-efficiency and eco-friendly character.

Michelin X-Ice Xi3 is scheduled to hit the markets in fall 2012. It will be available with 14 to 18 rim diameter and equip 90 per cent of passenger car and minivans sold in the US and Canada.

Michelin Unveils the New Defender Tire for Passenger Tires

At the NAIAS show Michelin unveiled the new tire for passenger cars. The company calls its Defender model the real breakthrough in standard passenger tire segment. It delivers safety driving, fuel-efficient operation and exceptionally long mileage coupled with excellent price / quality ratio.

The tire’s braking distance is 9.5 meters shorter than that of Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring. It also provides for excellent wet grip similar to that of Michelin HydroEdge. In addition, snow traction was enhanced by 15 per cent.

Michelin Defender also improves your vehicle’s fuel consumption, which is indicated by the Green X symbol on its sidewall. Its rolling resistance was lowered by 17 per cent in comparison to its predecessor, which helps drivers save up to $250 during the tire’s service term.

The tire is made under the IntelliSipe innovative technology to stabilize tread blocks and optimize the quantity of sipes. It also makes the tire lightweight, which guarantees that rolling resistance is reduced without compromise on driver and passenger safety.

Michelin Defender has a MaxTouch Construction, which presupposes the unique footprint shape to evenly distribute load over it and enhance speeding up and braking performance as well cornering stability. At the same time, the technology provide for even abrasion, which results into a long mileage.

The tire will be available in April 2012 in 38 sizes from 175/70R13 to 225/50R18 to equip a great number of passenger cars around.

Michelin Primacy LC Summer Tire for Passenger Cars

Michelin Primacy LC is a high-performance summer tire for passenger sedans and coups. Its key features include maximum wet traction, smooth and silent operation and low rolling resistance.

The tire compound is molded into an asymmetrical tread picture with differently designed outer and inner tread areas to ensure equal excellence on both wet and dry road surfaces while wet grip was significantly improved, which guarantees a short braking distance in the wet.

Michelin Primacy LC is made from Full Silica Compound worked out by the company to grant its tire a soft footprint and maximum road-wheel contact as well as ultimate traction in the wet. The compound is durable as well, which enhances the tire’s durability and prolongs its mileage.

The tire benefits from Michelin Silent Rib Technology and delivers excellent driver and passenger comfort. The grooves are shaped and arranged in such a way so as to add stiffness to central ribs, which reduces vibration and cancels noise waves. The rubber compound is also exceptionally good at absorbing vibration when the tire has to go through various road irregularities.

Full Silica Compound is the main reason for the tire’s low rolling resistance, and hence, its fuel-efficient operation. As a result, your vehicle will consume less fuel per mile, which reduces the amount of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. The tire even got a Green X marking for its eco-friendly performance.
